You Have To Try Out This Sweet & Savory French Toast Recipe

One of my staple breakfasts when I am feeling like something sweet, savory and satisfying is French Toast. This French toast recipe is incredibly simple and will impress all of your friends!

French toast is one of my favorite breakfasts for weekends and is also an amazing hangover cure! It’s so simple that you cannot go wrong. Even though it’s not really necessary, I buy my bread fresh from the baker on the same morning for the best results, but you can pretty much use whatever bread you please to make this (or even make your own bread if you feel like it).

You can play around with the recipe, according to your preference. You can also leave out some of the sweet ingredients and serve your French toast with a breakfast buffet, and it goes really, really well with bacon.

Ingredients

1 loaf of Brioche

1 egg per slice

Splash of milk

Salt & Pepper to taste

1tsp Cinnamon

2 tsp oil

1/3 cup of cheddar cheese per slice

Maple syrup

Method

Start by slicing your bread onto thick slices. Brioche is ideal, but I normally use sourdough bread, because Brioche can be hard to find.

I normally start out with about six eggs to start with, whisk them in a bowl large enough to fit your slices of toast, add milk, whisk, then add salt and pepper to taste and a little bit of cinnamon.

When you’ve used up your egg mixture, you’ll have to make more, depending on how much French toast you want

Dip the bread into your egg mixture and let it soak for a few seconds while you heat up some oil in a frying pan.

Once the pan is hot, place your egg soaked bread into the pan and cook for a minute or two on each side on medium heat until it’s a dark golden-brown colour. Set aside on a plate in the oven at a low temperature to retain heat.

Reapeat the process until you’ve finished making the toast.

Once complete, grate up the cheese and sprinkle it over each individual slice, along with a bit of maple syrup. You can even add some crispy bacon on top if you really want to treat yourself.

It’s literally that simple and requires very little effort or concentration, but you won’t believe how delicious this French toast recipe is! You may just be tempted to make yourself a small batch every single day!
