If you’re in the northern hemisphere, you may as well consider your beach body cancelled this year. Get yourself some self help books and work on your personality instead. For those of us in the south, winter’s on its way anyway, and we may as well embrace the layer of blubber we’re developing as it’ll keep us warm in the chilly months. However, neither of these are reasons to abandon our exercise routines entirely and stop taking care of ourselves. We have at our disposal the greatest collection of workout videos in the history of all time. By that I, of course, mean YouTube. So if, like most of the world, you’re stuck in quarantine but still wanna work up a little bit of a sweat and get the blood flowing to your brain after your Netflix binge, check out some of these great Youtube workouts.
Youtube workouts for the yoga people:
Yoga with Adrienne: Great for beginners and those trying to find some calm in all this pandemic chaos, Adrienne guides us through each routine with a soothing voice, and an authenticity that’s lacking in many other similar youtube workout channels. She has videos for every yoga goal including strength, flexibility and weight loss, and her videos are an excellent way to dip your toes into the world of yoga, or a lovely addition to your practice if you’re already a regular.
SaraBethYoga: Another no frills attached yoga channel. You’ll find a lot more intermediate yoga flows here, that’ll leave you feeling particularly stretchy. Sarah Beth also has videos for beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners, and some of them will even help you work up a real sweat. The simplicity of these videos make them easy to follow and allow for very little distraction and confusion so you can really get your head in the game.
Youtube workouts for the Pilates people:
The Live Fit Girl: There’s quite a lot going on on this channel, but you’ll find some great traditional pilates workouts to get you started and to get that core engaged. If you’re looking to make things more interesting, there’s also a range of fun workouts that use some basic equipment, like bands, and they’re all easy to follow, and can be combined to target the areas you’re looking for.
Blogilates: We would be remiss if we didn’t include Cassie Ho to this list. Here you’ll find a massive range of workout videos that target every part of your body (and some parts you didn’t know you had), and are short enough for you to mix and match into your perfect routine. Cassie’s a little noisy throughout the videos, but perhaps her yells of encouragement are necessary because these moves BURN. You’ll simultaneously love and hate her for the agony she puts you through, but you’ll get up off your mat feeling like a new human.

Channels for those who want to sweat:
MadFit and PopSugar: Both of these channels have a variety of up-beat and uplifting workouts that are a whole bunch of sweaty fun. There are some great low-impact cardio options and HIIT workouts, and going through these videos is a great way to maintain variety in your exercise routine despite the fact that you’re limited to your back yard or one room in your house. If you’re not feeling particularly inspired to workout and need a boost, try some of these.
The Body Coach TV: Another extremely versatile channel, that caters to everyone. Here you’ll find senior workouts to share with your folks, and PE workouts to do with your little ones if you’re stuck with them and their pent up energy in the house. In between, there are great HIIT routines and videos using a range of equipment to get your heart-rate up and your blood pumping.
Les Mills: Push yourself to the limits with these beautifully produced and intense workouts. Guaranteed to get you sweaty and get those endorphins flowing, you’ll come out of every workout feeling like a champion and ready to take on the world (or your living room).
& For those who just want to have a good time:
The Fitness Marshall: Turn your lounge into a party by following these dance workouts. Choreographed to popular songs that you’d probably be grooving along to anyway, these workouts/dance routines will have you laughing at yourself (extra abs), turning up the volume, and also burning all those lockdown snack calories! Highly motivating and enjoyable, it’s a great thing to get your roommate or partner involved in. Be sure to record yourselves and send us a video!

When it comes to fitness, we’ve only just scraped the surface of the goldmine that is YouTube workouts. If these aren’t to your liking, get in there, search the type of workout you’re looking for and you’re guaranteed to find someone who’s made a video just for you. It’s cheaper than a gym membership, can be done in your pajamas (although nobody wants sweaty PJs), you no longer have an excuse not to treat your body well, we get some exercise and we make quarantine a little more bearable.
