Cape Town is bursting with scrumptious plant-based offerings lately, but if you’re looking for a truly complete vegan lunch spot list, you cant skip Scheckter’s Raw. This little spot in Sea Point is smack in the middle of the hustle and bustle, and impossible to miss. That’s great, because missing it would be a damn shame.
where: 98 Regent Road, Seapoint, Cape Town, South Africa
when: Monday – Sunday 08:30 – 20:30
Whether you’re looking for brekkie or a burger, Scheckter’s Raw has you covered. With wraps, burgers, poke bowls and more, the menu isn’t large enough to cause too much indecision (although there are a number of tasty looking options that will surely be tempting), and the space is cosy and welcoming. Being surrounded by succulent plants and Buddha statues will you indulge in your meal of choice makes the experience seem that much calmer and more enjoyable.
The Scheckter’s Raw burgers, which are served on differently coloured buns, make for a particularly picturesque meal, and this spot, overall, is pretty instagram friendly ( for those of you who are into that). I have heard, though, that their pumpkin pie flapjacks are the best item on the menu, so if you’re visiting this healthy haven, remember to arrive hungry. You also have the option of buying treats and beverages from the in-store fridges to take home for later.
Check out the menu here.
The best part is that while chowing down on your meal you can rest assured that you’re making conscious and ethical dining choices that are doing great things for your health and the planet. According to the Scheckter’s Raw website, the goal of this sanctuary of health is to create “natural, authentic, honest, plant-based, cruelty-free and nutrient dense food.”
“We source our ingredients only from the best of local and international suppliers,” they write. “We strive to serve beautifully presented, nutritious food infused with passion, gratitude and a generous spirit.”
What’s better than filling your belly with guilt-free goodness? Not much, that’s what.
Scheckter’s Raw has seating inside and outside, so you can seek shelter from the wind, or bask in the sun. Whichever you prefer.
If you’re in the Sea Point area, pop in and have a look at the menu. Better yet, order yourself some flapjacks. You deserve it.
